20090704 Skaneateles Fireworks

No fewer than 9 residents around this little lake spent a fortune on fireworks, illegal to set off, and put on a show from next door, across the lake, up and down both sides of this 25 mile long, 1 mile wide lake.

These are hand held, but it lends to artistic interpretation.

20090630 More birds

Tuesday, 30 June 2009
I headed out to another clarinet lesson, the instructor has a birdfeeder-rich back yard. This time I tried using my flash and standing in the yard. Mixed results. Here is a sample of what you can find at the web album (http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=jfstiefel&target=ALBUM&id=5353495462396338465&authkey=Gv1sRgCO-rrqL-w_P4aQ&feat=email&mode=SLIDESHOW) I hope that linky works.

20090629 First attempt, new camera, lens, moon

Zoomed all the way in, photo settings are still something of a mystery to me as I shot these in "raw" format and haven't figured out what to do with them yet. This is the center 1/5th of the frame. I will try stacking some to remove noise but I wanted to throw one up for now.

I am just *LOVING* my new lens. Telephoto from across the yard, maybe 200-250 ft away.

20090605 Katie graduates

I realize it's been 6 months. Here's a quick taste of graduation.
I will post more. I will fill in for lost time.
I have many photos (that will have to be shrunk to post due to Blogspot's 5M limitation).
Patience is a virtue.

20090106 We got her back!

On her own, all by herself, she had to take the Metro to the RER at 4am Paris time, in the dark, and had to find her own way through the Air France mess that was Charles DeGaul airport the day after Paris had the first snow in eons with all flights cancelled and so rebooked for today.

But we got her back.

Not her bags, but we got her.
